How We Transformed Minette Rushing’s Digital Home Without “Starting Over”

Minette Rushing is a 25+ year luxury wedding artist, trusted by celebrities, professional athletes, and high-profile planners like Colin Cowie, Mindy Weiss, Todd Fiscus, Easton Events, and Tara Guerard. Her work has graced the pages of Vogue, Martha Stewart Weddings, Brides, and the Food Network.

Her reputation?
Iconic. Elevated. Established.

Her old website?
Not carrying its weight.

Minette needed a digital experience that matched the level of authority, clarity, and sophistication she’s known for.

The Before: A Website That Didn’t Reflect Her Legacy

Minette’s previous homepage had warmth but two major gaps were quietly holding her back:

Her authority wasn’t shining through

Someone with Minette’s level of expertise shouldn’t have to explain she’s an industry leader—her website should make that immediately clear.

Instead, her accolades and client roster were buried or missing from key entry points.

OLD DESIGN

NEW DESIGN

The user experience wasn’t aligned with high-end expectations

There wasn’t a clear pathway that guided people through her ecosystem of recipes, education, and wedding cakes—three branches of her business that needed their own spotlight.

Minette’s business is thriving. But her website wasn’t supporting that next level of growth.

And I absolutely know THAT is how so many established wedding professionals feel.

The Vision: A Digital Home Worthy of Her Craft

I am one to believe that when your business evolves, your website should evolve with it—not erase what you’ve built. I always tell my clients we don’t want to trash and burn everything, we need to keep a connection to the current positioning when it’s going to help carry the business evolution.

For Minette, this meant:

✔ Keeping her recognizable brand identity
✔ Elevating the overall clarity and sophistication
✔ Designing a structure that served both brides and cake designers
✔ Creating a clean, intuitive user experience that removed decision fatigue
✔ Positioning her as the mentor, educator, and luxury artist she already is

This wasn’t a redesign to rebuild her brand but more like it was a reintroduction.

We worked on…

A new custom website design, new copy, image curation, new branded illustrations, and a re-imagined Learning hub with a separate sales page for her flagship Recipes digital book.

Several illustrated cards featuring cakes by luxury cake designer Minette Rushing and an ice cream cone are arranged on a lilac surface, surrounded by scattered flower stems, petals, and natural light—perfect for a website refresh.

The After: A Website Aligned With Her Legacy and Her Future

The new web experience intentionally crafted to feel like:

Walking into a luxury and personal space guided by a clear, modern structure (all with her original brand foundation).

Here’s what we transformed:

We immediately establish her credibility, right where premium buyers look first. Whether it’s a new wedding cake designer who wants to learn from the best, or a bride or wedding planner looking for a trusted vendor, we had to establish trust fast and at the same time bring forth her education side of the business which had been flying under the radar with her old site design.

Two smartphones display Minette Rushing's website: one promotes her recipe book for luxury cake designers, the other offers classes and business guidance—perfect for those seeking a website refresh or career growth in the luxury cake industry.

Strategic User Journeys for Two Distinct Audiences

Minette has two ideal clients:

  • Brides looking for luxury cakes
  • Cake designers wanting her recipes and training

We built separate pathways so each audience instantly self-identifies and lands exactly where they need to go—without friction and without confusion.

Which takes me to…

A Cleaner, More Intentional Structure

The new homepage acts as an elevated gateway into:

  • Her signature cake recipes
  • Her education suite
  • Her wedding cake portfolio
  • Her trusted resources
  • Her newsletter “Sugar for Your Inbox”

Every section is intentional, every CTA is clear (and if you have been around for a while you knoooow I am very specific about CTAs).

Every message is strategically placed to reduce decision fatigue.

Elevated Visual Language & Modern Editorial Feel

We refined her entire visual rhythm by:

  • Using her palette in a new way to support a different visual positioning
  • Simplifying background textures
  • Highlighting imagery and video that reflects her luxury wedding vendor positioning
  • Using white space to create a calm, high-end feel
  • Adding new custom illustration accents that honor her craft

The experience feels grounded, elegant, and timeless. All without losing the warmth her audience loves.

A Website That Sells Without Feeling “Salesy”

Minette’s ecosystem is large, but now it feels effortlessly navigable. Love to see that!

Recipes / Education / Luxury weddings…

All woven together through:

  • Clear copy
  • Strong section hierarchy
  • Psychology-backed CTAs
  • A seamless Pre, During, Post experience

For the Wedding Professional Reading This…

Please don’t think that needing a website refresh means you’ve done something wrong.

Usually, it means the opposite!

Your business has grown, your reputation has expanded, your brand is ready for a new chapter…

And your website needs to meet you where you are now!

If your digital home no longer reflects the sophistication of your work, your expertise, or your vision, well, it might be time to step into your next era, too.
